About

Discover Richard Sapper’s “Tizio” limited edition “X30” lamp from 2002, a design icon. This rare creation of Artemis celebrates 30 years since the first Tizio in 1972, and was produced in a limited edition.

A unique opportunity to own a chromed “Tizio” lamp numbered and signed by designer Richard Sapper, a collector’s piece that celebrates iconic design.

The Modello Tizio is an iconic table lamp that redefined modern lighting design. Created by German designer Richard Sapper in 1972 for Artemide, the Tizio combines minimalist aesthetics with groundbreaking engineering. Its unique construction eliminates the need for traditional wiring between joints by conducting low-voltage electricity through its arms — an innovation that was both functional and visually striking.

Crafted with adjustable counterweights and pivoting arms, the Tizio allows precise, fluid movement and positioning without the need for knobs or springs. The lamp’s low-voltage halogen bulb (originally 12V/50W) is counterbalanced by its geometric form, providing direct task lighting that’s ideal for desks and studios.

Originally available in matte black, the Tizio has since been produced in various sizes and finishes, including white, red, and chrome. Special limited editions such as the Tizio 50 and the Tizio X30 (a signed, numbered 30th anniversary edition in polished aluminum) have made the lamp a highly sought-after collector’s item.

With its futuristic silhouette and mechanical elegance, the Modello Tizio has earned a place in the permanent collections of MoMA (New York) and the V&A (London), and remains one of the best-selling designer lamps of all time.

Condition: Good overall condition (Integrity and authenticity). This item has no defects, but it may shows traces of use and wear. It was not cleaned, maintaining the patina visible in the photos.

Provenance: Acquired from a private collection. Ownership: Monginho Collection.
